SPRINGFIELD – Fire Department investigators continue to search for the cause of a fire that left one person injured and displaced six residents late Friday night.

The fire started in a first-floor bedroom of a home on 75 Pine St. and extended into the second floor, Fire Capt. Drew Piemonte said.

One resident was injured during the fire and brought to a local hospital for treatment. Piemonte did not have information about the extent of the injuries to the victim.

The fire was reported shortly after 11 p.m. on Friday. Firefighters were on the scene for several hours working to extinguish the blaze, he said.

The six adults who were displaced were assisted by the Red Cross of Western Massachusetts, Piemonte said.

The Fire Department’s Arson and Bomb Squad is investigating the cause of the fire.
