Unemployment Fraud

Subject: Unemployment Fraud

Good Afternoon,

The City of Springfield has become aware of a National Unemployment Fraud Scheme.  Like many other business entities, the City of Springfield has been receiving fraudulent unemployment claims for certain City and School employees.  The claims have been reported to our third party administrator as fraud.  To prevent this fraud, the Department of Unemployment Assistance has been implementing additional identity verification measures which may temporarily delay the payment timeframe of legitimate claims.

If a fraudulent unemployment claim has been filed in your name, please immediately fill out the fraud reporting form at the below link.

https://www.mass.gov/forms/unemployment-fraud-reporting-form

The Human Resources Department will be reaching out to all employees that are on our list of having a claim with DUA to confirm if the claim is legitimate or not. If myself or Sabrina Destasio from Human Resources contacts you in regards to an unemployment claim, please return the call as soon as possible so we can report the claim if need be.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to HR.

Thanks,
Caitlyn
